Saugus Business Partnership Supports Saugus High Science Team

Saugus, MA

The Saugus Business Partnership (SBP) recently presented a $500 donation to the Saugus High School Science Team to assist the 25-member club with its expenses. According to Science Club Advisor Dr. Shawn Gurrette, the donation will be used to pay operating expenses including the cost of transporting team members to monthly interscholastic meets as well as to pay expenses for the upcoming North Shore Science League meet at Saugus High School.

We are grateful to the Saugus Business Partnership (SBP) for its support, Dr. Gurrette said. Their donation has helped to keep the Science Club alive. Outside donations from businesses and others in the community enable us to compete in interscholastic competitions and help pay for the materials used by the students to work on projects and inventions throughout the year.

Many of the students who participate are aiming for careers in engineering or in other science, math, and computer fields. Club activities help to foster skills in scientific inquiry, planning and problem solving, teamwork, leadership and competition.

We are pleased to help the students of Saugus High School and members of the Science Team, SBP Treasurer John Smolinsky added. We wish them well in their upcoming meets.
