Saugus Business Partnership

The Saugus Business Partnership (SBP) recently presented a $1,500 donation to the Saugus Community Partnership for Children to help fund its family literary program.

According to SBP officers Donald Wong, President; Russell Robbatt, Vice President; John Smolinsky, Treasurer; and Jim McIver, Clerk; the donation will be used to purchase "Share A Book" bags with tips about reading and literacy for new parents. The donation will also help to fund a portion of the "Rhythm, Reading and Rhyme" family literacy program, an eight-week program for 4 and 5 year olds and their families.

Funding for the family literacy program and the new parent reading book bags was cut due to budget constraints and the scarcity of grants for educational programs, SBP representatives said. The SBP shares in the belief of the Saugus Community Partnership for Children that reading to a child is an important part of their development. We are proud to help fund this valuable educational program.

Founded in 2003 by the four local business leaders, the Saugus Business Partnership (SBP) was created to improve and enhance the quality of life in Saugus.
